Wow! It's been a while since I've done anything on here. I've never been away as such, the truth is I've been mostly dormant, sometimes commenting or faving but usually just plotting. Mostly plotting! Last year I got distracted, work, university, friends became so all consuming that posting anything here became a chore. But I've had some time away, to readjust myself and hopefully I've found a better balance in life. Which means I've decided to post things on here once more.
First things first, A truly deep apology to any of you for whom my disappearance was a bit of annoyance, especially the wonderful people in my SDL team who I shamefully abandoned. After such a long abscence I think it would be best for everyone if my character was simply left in retirement.
Secondly, my art is rubbish. I realised in my hibernation that I tried to cheat, to take shortcuts. To attempt to draw without learning the basics of art, proper life drawing, anatomy, colour theory, perspective etc, was like trying to do a handstand with both arms tied behind your back. It's not going to end well. In any case I've decided to go back to the drawing board (literally) and actually try to learn some of this stuff, before I post any art here again.
This means the things I'll be posting here will be literature. Yes, feel free to run away now. Short stories, poems and what not are to be expected from here on in. I've always wanted to be a writer but never actually tried to write anything properly. So I thought I'd start.
To start me off I'm attempting the 'Hundred Theme Challenge' organised by, surprise surprise, *100ThemesChallenge, in my case in the form of poems and flash fiction.
I've also started a Haiku writing month inspired by similar challenges from `MSJames. I'll be updating the page with a new one everyday in May.
Finally after lurking around the Simply Prose pages for a while I'm going to have a go at some of their prompts this month.
Hopefully that should keep me going for awhile. I'm kind of looking forward to writing these things. Don't expect great stuff straight away. My writing experience is pretty much limited to essays at the moment, never mind bloomin' poetry. But hey, practise and getting better is what this site is all about, right?
